Garage Tips for Uber and Bolt Drivers: Keep Earning, Not Repairing
High-mileage work cars wear in predictable ways
If you do 40,000+ miles a year on Uber or Bolt, your car will need attention in roughly the same places, in roughly the same order. Knowing this saves money and stops you losing days to unexpected breakdowns.
We look after a lot of work cars at our Poplar workshop — here are the patterns we see.
The five things that wear out first
1. Front brake pads and discs — usually every 15–25k depending on driving style.
2. Tyres — front pair often goes faster than the rear; rotate regularly.
3. Drop links and suspension bushes — knocking over speed bumps is the giveaway.
4. Battery — short stop-start runs in winter kill them sooner than you would expect.
5. EGR / DPF on diesels — short trips cause incomplete regeneration over time.
Service intervals for working cars
Manufacturer intervals (often 12k or annual) are for private cars. If you are doing 1,000+ miles a week, follow this instead:
How to avoid the avoidable bills
What to ask your garage
A garage worth using will:
That is how we work with Uber and Bolt drivers from across East London — and it is why many of them come back every 6,000 miles instead of waiting for a problem.
