Honest indicative pricing — no booking fees

Full car service cost in East London — what each level includes

A car service isn't a single fixed thing — it's three different jobs depending on how thorough you want to be. An interim service is a top-up health check, a full service is the annual one most cars need, and a major service is what brings a high-mileage or neglected car back up to standard. Cost rises with depth, and with the parts your vehicle actually consumes.

We service every petrol and diesel passenger car, plus most light commercials, at our Poplar E14 workshop. The price you pay depends almost entirely on which level you book and what your manufacturer's schedule specifies for your model.

We'll give you a written, fixed quote before any work starts. If something needs replacing mid-service, we stop and call — no surprises on the invoice.

What affects the cost

We won't pretend to fix a price online — every car is different. These are the honest variables that decide what you pay.

Service level

Interim < Full < Major. Each tier adds more replacement parts and longer inspection time.

Engine size and oil grade

A 1.0 petrol takes a fraction of the oil a 3.0 diesel does — and synthetic oil costs more than mineral. We always quote with the correct manufacturer-spec oil.

Filters and consumables

Pollen, air and fuel filters are not all changed at every service. We follow the manufacturer schedule rather than upsell.

Spark plugs and brake fluid

On their own change intervals (often every 2–4 years). Including them when they're due is cheaper than booking a separate visit.

Discovered work

If a service inspection reveals a worn part (a binding caliper, a leaking shock), we stop and quote separately. Service fee doesn't change without your approval.

What's included

  • Interim: engine oil + oil filter, brake fluid level, tyre pressures, wiper blades, lights, 30-point visual inspection
  • Full: everything above plus air filter, pollen filter, full brake inspection, suspension and underbody check, fluid top-ups
  • Major: everything above plus fuel filter (where applicable), spark plugs (petrol), brake fluid change, more extensive driveline checks
  • Service book stamp / digital service record updated
  • Written report of any advisory items with priority

Honest detail — what the numbers actually mean

The biggest reason servicing costs vary between garages isn't labour rate — it's whether the correct manufacturer-spec parts are used. We buy OE-quality oil filters, manufacturer-spec engine oil, and brand-name pollen and air filters. A pattern-part filter can be half the price but doesn't always fit properly or last as long; on a modern engine, the wrong oil viscosity can cause premature wear. The cost difference at the till is small; the cost difference to your engine isn't.

An interim service every 6 months or 6,000 miles keeps the engine clean and catches issues early. A full service once a year is what the majority of cars actually need. A major service every two to three years (or whenever your manufacturer specifies) is the one that prevents the expensive failures — clogged fuel filters, fouled plugs, contaminated brake fluid. Skipping a major service to save money usually costs more later.

We service all makes — German marques (BMW, Audi, VW, Mercedes), Japanese (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan), Korean (Hyundai, Kia), French (Peugeot, Renault, Citroen), and British (Mini, Jaguar, Land Rover). Independent servicing keeps your manufacturer warranty intact under the EU Block Exemption Regulation, as long as we use the correct parts and stamp the book — which we do.

If your car hasn't been serviced for a while, don't be embarrassed — most cars we see in this category come in fine after a major service and a few targeted fixes. Drop us the reg and rough mileage, and we'll quote a sensible catch-up plan rather than push every option at once. That's often two visits a few months apart, not one giant bill.
